Meet the Fire Chief

 

 

Fire Chief Kirk F. Young, a 27-year veteran of the Sparta Fire Department, began his firefighting career in February, 1985, under the administration of Fire Chief Charles Hyder. Chief Young served as a captain until his appointment as chief in February, 2011.

 

Chief young provides leadership to the five paid Fire Fighters and sixteen Volunteers that serve the city of Sparta. He attended the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA) where he received certification as a firefighter in the State of Tennessee.

 

Chief Young has also been a key figure is serving the students of the White County Schools. He speaks at school events and conducts demonstrations each year during fire safety month.

 

Chief Young resides in Sparta with his wife Doris. He is a member of Upper Cumberland Fire Chiefs Association and  the Tennessee Fire Chief Association.
