Safety Alerts

An Announcement from White County School Board:

The White County School Board, in conjunction with local emergency response personnel, would like to remind everyone of school bus safety.  Tennessee law requires drivers to stop their vehicle before reaching a school bus stopped for the purpose of loading or unloading students. This law is in effect whether meeting or driving behind a school bus. Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is in the process of stopping and drivers should also prepare to stop.  When the door is opened for children to enter or exit the bus, the red lights activate and the stop sign extends.  Drivers should remain stopped until the red lights and stop sign are no longer active.  On a weekly basis White County bus drivers report a vehicle driving through the extended stop sign. We would appreciate your cooperation in becoming more aware to keep the children of White County safe.
